I've always heard that there was something magical about film. I finally got to experience that feeling.

A couple weeks ago, I found a Canon FTb film camera and thought I'd take a shot at using it. I had to dig around the internet to even figure out how to use the camera. Thankfully, the camera has built in metering. Otherwise, it would be a lost cost.

I loaded up a roll of black and white film and started shooting. Surprisingly, I had a lot of fun shooting with it. The biggest impact using this camera made was to slow down. First I was dealing with film. Only 24 frames to work with instead of the 400 Raw photos I can pack onto a 4gig memory card with my 20d. So I wanted to compose my images more carefully and also try to meter more carefully.

The next part that was interesting was taking them somewhere to get developed. Now, a few people might say that I should go develop them myself or take them to a professional place to get them developed. Well, my photography experience has grown mostly in the digital photo age. So my patience isn't very good in that respect. On top of that, I've been busy at work so I haven't had time to take them anywhere. Finally last night, I ran out to Fred Meyer and had them processed. here are the results of my little film project.

I have to say, that I enjoyed shooting film and will be doing so again after I finish my sofobomo.org project.
